It was based on the means of the patron - Baron Alexander Stieglitz in 1876. From 1953 to 1994, the Academy was named the Leningrad Higher School of Art and Design named after V. I. Mukhina. Now the Academy includes the faculty of design and the faculty of monumental and decorative art. Among the famous graduates of the Academy were the book illustrator Valery Traugot and the artist Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin. Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design differs from many art universities by constantly holding exhibitions and competitions for their students. The most famous event in the life of the Academy was a large-scale international professional forum in the sphere of design.
University’s position as a world-class University is confirmed by its RAEX ranking: it is 11th among the top 100 Russia’s universities and the 36th place in EECA University Ranking. The structure of the Polytechnic University includes 10 technical, physics and humanitarian-economic institutions. "Industrial design" major appeared in Polytech in 1998 at the Mechanical Engineering Faculty (new name Institute of Metallurgy, Machinery, and Transport). Graduates of the Institute are engaged in the design and implementation of high quality and, first of all, competitive technologies, various products in a vast field of production).
Moscow Polytechnic University was founded in 1864. For the history of its existence the university has changed many names, invariably remaining one of the key universities of the country. Among the famous graduates of Polytech were the designer of Zaporozhets Boris Fiterman, one of the creators of the T-34 tank Alexander Morozov, the chief designer of ZIL vehicles Anatoly Krieger. For the present, the educational structure of the Moscow Polytechnic consists of nine faculties and two institutes. In total, the university trains more than 29 000 students and is taught by about 2000 teachers.
The Belarusian State Academy of Arts was founded in 1945. The Faculty of Design and Decorative and Applied Arts was founded in 1976. The high level of education at the faculty is confirmed by the creative achievements of its students. Among the students of the faculty are winners of international creative competitions, whose works were exhibited in France, Germany, Poland, Japan, Russia. Today, the structure of the Academy includes five faculties: theater, art, design and decorative arts, screen arts, advanced training and retraining. Both Belarusian citizens and citizens of other countries study there.
The British higher school of art and design is one of the most important educational centres in Russia. BHSAD works in close partnership with the School of the Creative Arts of the University of Hertfordshire in the UK and specialises in professional education in various creative fields.
The first Russian technical university was established as a craft educational institution in 1830. The University currently has 8 Faculties, 2 Schools, 3 Vocational Schools, 4 Graduate Schools, and 10 Research and Application Centers. Izmir University of Economics has ERASMUS program agreements with 171 universities in 26 countries and has academic cooperation protocol with 47 universities abroad. Being the first undergraduate industrial design program within the Aegean region, the Department of Industrial Design at the Izmir University of Economics offers a Bachelors of Design in Industrial Design degree in either Industrial Product Design or Design Management.
NUST MISIS today is a dynamic scientific and educational centre attracting the best graduates, scientists and lecturers. The University specifically focuses on integrating science, education and innovations, as well as establishing a creative environment for unlocking the potential of every student. By 2020, NUST MISIS intends to strengthen its leadership positions in a number of areas, including material sciences, metallurgy and mining, as well as strongly strengthen its presence in bio materials, nano- and IT-technologies.
The Stroganov Academy was founded in 1825 at the expense of the earl, philanthropist, archeologist Sergei G. Stroganov. The idea of the founder of the Academy, a member of the family of large Russian industrialists, was to link traditional handicrafts and industrial production. Among the famous graduates of Stroganovka were Mikhail Vrubel, Fedor Shekhtel, Dmitry Prigov. Once Vladimir Mayakovsky even studied at the academy. MGHPA named after SG Stroganov usually offers its students opportunities for development outside the academy, for example, by the 180th anniversary of the university, students demonstrated their works in the best exhibition halls in Moscow and the region. University of applied Sciences Lahti was founded in 1971. Now there are over five thousand students, and teach more than 400 permanent professors. The University employs about 70 teachers from the world's leading universities every year. Graduates of the Faculty of Design and Arts successfully work in the fields of industrial, graphic and interior design, as well as related fields. In total, the University has six faculties, which are located near the lake Vesijärvi and the recreation center of Salpausselka.
